Collective Property Consultants is pleased to welcome top producing Realtor Malia Tarasek to the team! With ten years of experience in the real estate industry, Malia brings her deep knowledge of the home buying and selling process, extensive connections across all three local jurisdictions, and sharp instincts to the team.

We are huge fans of Malia—and we want you to know her as well as we do! So without further ado, meet Malia Tarasek—and be sure to attend our next event so you can connect with her in person!

How did you get into real estate?

I was an English teacher in South Korea for a year and had just returned home. I had this intense feeling that I needed to put down roots, perhaps because after visiting over a dozen countries in one year, I wanted to be more grounded. But honestly, I wasn’t sure how to go about finding and achieving that sense of stability. A dear family friend is a Realtor and she thought real estate would be a good direction for me. I still remember the day she showed me around her office; I got a glimpse of the competitive side of the industry, but also quickly saw the helpful side of real estate. Six months later, I was fully licensed, first in Virginia, then DC and Maryland.

In a crowded field of Realtors, what sets you apart?

I was born and raised in Vienna, Virginia and have lived in all three jurisdictions of the DMV, so I know the area very well and actually own properties in both Virginia and Maryland. I’ve personally gone through the buying and selling process seven times in the ten years I’ve been licensed, so I keenly understand what my clients are going through. I totally get the stress—and try to alleviate it the best I can by walking my clients through every possible scenario so there are no surprises. Due to my personal experience, I also am driven to help my clients experience the joyous part of the real estate journey—buying the home of your dreams or selling your property in a seamless fashion for top dollar.

What do you like to do for fun?

I absolutely LOVE being outside, and two of my three favorite pastimes involve the outdoors. I am passionate about golf—both to play and to watch. It’s one sport where you get friendly competition and exercise while being outside and socializing. I’m also devoted to the sun. Summer is my favorite season and watching the sunset is the highlight of any day. (Fair warning to the AC lovers: I will always choose outside dining in the warmer months if we are getting together for lunch or dinner!) And my other favorite thing is cats. I will literally pet any cat I encounter on the street. I’m lucky to have two of my own now: Momo, 17-year old Japanese Manx whom I adopted as a senior kitty and Einstein, a 2-year old feral cat I domesticated.

Welcome to the team, Malia!
