Katie Geffken
FOUNDER & PARTNER AGENT
A marketing strategist and local business owner turned Realtor®, Katie has an entrepreneurial spirit and loves to make a positive impact in people’s lives through her work.
She spent years marketing for top brands like Bank of America and Volkswagen, but wanted to have more involvement in her community. So she switched gears and founded Biker Barre, a Capitol Hill cycling and barre studio. The studio was an instant success and once it was up and running, Katie grew hungry again for a new challenge.
Upon getting her real estate license to buy her own home (as one does), Katie realized she had stumbled into the perfect role for her personality and skill set. Hard skills like developing a marketing strategy, managing negotiations, and conducting property valuations are part of Katie’s DNA. But the soft skills are where she thrives. After 7+ years of running a fitness studio with 45+ staff members and 12k+ clients, Katie knows a thing or two about customer service, managing a team, and making sure everyone feels heard and served.
Katie has consistently been a top producing agent, recognized year after year in the Washingtonian for her success. During the pandemic, working alone didn’t work anymore and Katie felt the need to build a team of like-minded agents. She sought to build a team of agents who care deeply about the impact they can have on their clients. Agents who work by referral (an indicator of the quality of their work), have similar moral compasses, and an almost pathological attention to detail. Collective Property Consultants was born and has grown to be one of the top teams in Washington.
Katie holds a BA and MBA from the University of Michigan. She’s the past president of the Business School Alumni Club of DC. Her husband Andrew is also a crazy entrepreneur type, having founded Charm City Meadworks and now working in M&A for a large alcohol distribution company. Their daughter Genevieve and dog Harley are the ones who really rule the roost.
Melody Goodman

Melody is an earth-conscious Realtor® who is passionate about helping buyers find their ideal home, guiding sellers through this hot market, and inspiring everyone to live happier, healthier, and more sustainable lifestyles.
A Realtor for nearly 20 years (with 10+ in the DC metro area), Melody has experience navigating an extreme buyers market (remember 2008?), an extreme sellers market (like now!), and everything in between.
Melody’s warm, laid back demeanor and low-pressure approach to sales has earned her an impressive track record. She works with both buyers and sellers with 99% of her client base coming from referrals and repeat business. Many of her buyer clients are either 1st-time buyers or past clients ready to move up. On the seller side, she excels at helping homeowners prepare and stage their home for the market in order to receive top dollar.
With her NAR Green Designation, Melody is also well versed in issues relating to energy efficiency and sustainability in real estate. She believes that by investing in the communities we love, we can help the planet, increase property values, and make the world a better place.
Melody is mother to two rambunctious children, Ellie and Preston, and owner of an even more rambunctious “newfie-doodle” named Hailey . Her family’s personal residence is in Silver Spring, MD, and she has also lived and owned property in Takoma Park, Shaw/DC, and Alexandria.
Malia Tarasek
PARTNER AGENT
A top producing Realtor® who was born and raised in Vienna, Virginia, Malia Tarasek helps her home buying and selling clients in all three local jurisdictions, Washington DC, Northern Virginia and Maryland. Her deep-seated Northern Virginia roots and her current residence in Hyattsville, Maryland undoubtedly allow her to be a terrific neighborhood specialist—and she’s personally bought and sold seven properties in her ten years as a real estate agent, so she keenly understands the emotion and stress that can go into the process.
After earning a B.S. in International Business at The University of North Carolina Wilmington, she traveled to many parts of Asia while working in South Korea as a teacher. Upon returning home, she felt the need to establish roots and soon thereafter both bought her first home and became a real estate agent. Her outstanding real estate tech skills makes her a savvy asset to her clients in addition to her attention to detail and excellent customer service. Malia is a receptive and tenacious agent who works diligently from start to finish on each transaction. She prides herself on being very responsive and able to help her clients through the emotional roller coaster that comes with buying and selling property.
Committed to helping her community, Malia was nominated by her peers as the Northern Virginia Association of Realtors Young Professionals Network leader. She is an Accredited Buyers Representative, a benchmark of excellence in buyer representation. She is devoted to providing superior service in assisting both buyers and sellers. In her free time, Malia enjoys golf, traveling and spending as much time in the sunshine as possible.
Chelsea Henderson
AGENT & CHIEF MARKETING OFFICER
A Realtor® licensed in Maryland, DC, and Virginia, Chelsea is an avid gardener who is passionate about native plants and sustainable landscaping (think: no mowing and little watering) and is eager to share her expertise with others. An active member of her Cheverly community where she has lived for nearly 20 years, she co-founded the Cheverly Native Planting Project and serves on the board of the Cheverly Community Market, a bimonthly farmer’s market that runs May to December and features some of her favorite foods.
A recovering Senate staffer, climate change crusader, yogi, and writer of a non-fiction book, Glacial: The Untold Story of Climate Politics, coming to a bookshelf near you in August 2024, Chelsea has spent three decades living and working in the DC metro area, honing a set of skills that are very applicable to real estate. The mother of two fully formed adults and two very engaging cats, Chelsea loves helping her clients find just what they need.

Maëlla Bouchard is a Realtor® licensed in Virginia, Maryland, and the District of Columbia. She followed her heart, and her deep love of houses led her into the world of real estate. After years in customer service-oriented careers, including design-build and home retail, Maëlla, who also works hand-in-hand with our staging experts, loves working on this team.
