Think “DMV” means the Department of Motor Vehicles? Not around here! In this region, it stands for DC, Maryland, and Virginia—a dynamic, interconnected area packed with vibrant communities, each with its own unique charm.
I’ve had the pleasure of calling all three home. My DMV journey began in 2010 in Old Town Alexandria, VA. From there, I hopped over to DC’s Mt. Vernon Square (nestled between Shaw and Chinatown), then settled into Del Ray, VA. A job move took my family to Takoma Park, MD, and now we’re happily rooted in Silver Spring’s Sherwood Forest neighborhood.
Having lived—and owned real estate—all around the Beltway, I’ve got the inside scoop! Here’s your quick-start guide to getting to know the DMV and making the most of your new community.
